Magic Software's Award-Winning E-Merchant to be Showcased in IBM's European
Support Centers; Company Also Closes Several New Deals in France

Business Editors and High-Tech Writers

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 1999--Magic Software
Enterprises (Nasdaq:MGIC) Tuesday announced several major developments
in the European AS/400 marketplace, particularly IBM's decision to
showcase Magic's state-of-the-art application development technology
and award-winning e-business solution, Magic eMerchant(TM), in its
support centers in Germany and Italy.
Other developments include several recent deals in France, where
Magic continues to penetrate the high-tech marketplace.
In Germany, Magic's award winning business-to-business e-business
solution, Magic eMerchant, has been installed in IBM's AS/400 Support
Center in Ehningen, Germany. This latest development extends the
already close relationship the two companies enjoy as part of their
collaboration in the "AS/400 eBusiness Committee for EMEA."
IBM also has installed Magic's application development
technology, which is considered to be the most productive development
tool on the market, in its Support Center.
"The AS/400 eBusiness Committee for EMEA is a working group
established to allow its members the ability to combine other members'
products with their own when selling to their respective customer
bases," said Thomas Polster, responsible for IBM's AS/400 e-business
solutions in Central Europe.
"IBM chose Magic and eMerchant as its first two products because
they are very attractive technologically and, above all, they run
natively on the AS/400."
In Italy, Magic's development technology is being exhibited in
Spazio Aperto, IBM's permanent exhibition center located in Milan,
which functions as IBM's Southern European headquarters. Spazio
Aperto, which plays host to more than 400 visitors per week, was
established by IBM to allow its Business Partners to continuously
demonstrate their technology and solutions, and to participate in
co-sponsored events.
Currently, Magic is in discussions with IBM to extend its
presence within Spazio Aperto to include a Magic for Linux
demonstration area, as well as a Magic eMerchant exhibition site.
"There is an implied endorsement for Magic's state-of-the-art
technology and business solutions that comes from these associations
with IBM," said Nachman Chefner, Magic's vice president for European
operations. "This has helped us to gain recognition throughout Europe
and to consistently win new business from major, international
companies."
In France, three new deals recently were signed to utilize
Magic's development technology for the AS/400 platform to build
management solutions. SEPEPN (Societe' d'Exploitation du Parc des
Expositions Paris Nord Villepinte), which manages the largest
exhibition and trade show center in the Northern part of Paris, plans
to use Magic to develop an integrated booking, sales management and
accounting solution for use by its exhibitors.
The application will be both client/server and Web-enabled. Magic
was chosen on the basis of its high level of productivity and its
ability to function as both a client/server and Web development tool.
Another French company, Allium, will be using Magic to rebuild
their entire information system to integrate sales force automation
and provide e-commerce functionality. For this application, Allium,
which is a major computer products distributor in France, chose Magic
because of its experience and expertise in the sales force automation
and e-commerce arenas.
Finally, Cousin Freres, a major rigging manufacturer in France
that also provides products for shipchandlers and surgical product
companies, will be using Magic to provide a project management
solution for its subsidiary, Cousin Biotech, which specializes in
producing surgical material. Magic was selected over for its superior
performance, productivity and scalability.
"Magic continues to see significant growth from the European
AS/400 marketplace," said Jack Dunietz, chief executive officer of
Magic.
"It is a market that recognizes Magic's ability to easily and
transparently integrate new functionality, technologies and Web front
ends into existing AS/400 systems and data, providing companies
protection of their technology investment. We also witness growing
enthusiasm for our award-winning business-to-business application,
eMerchant, as European companies look for newer ways to improve their
operating efficiencies and increase revenues."
Included among Magic's prestigious list of AS/400 customers in
Europe are many industry leaders such as Agapes Restauration and
Abilis (France), Haendler & Natermann (Germany), DekaBank S.A.
(Luxembourg), Manpower (The Netherlands), and FMIS, Crown Agents and
Schroder Leasing (UK).
