AOL / ISLD? Some insight for management Yahoo ISLD board is talking AOL / Digital Island deal! But AOL may have serious second thoughts! AOL is big! Big companies like patents and their security! They will be reluctant to move into a company that may not be able to supply their services because of patent infringment! Actuually an AOL alignment with small, innovative and rapidly-growing Mirror Image Internet may be more comfortable and beneficial to its shareholders. And potentially less disruptive to its customers! Mirror Image's (XLA) 2 European patents are from April 1998 and Feb 1999, the first before Akamai AKAM was even a company, i believe! (they are not pending, they exist, browse at 507pm.com ) Mirror Image has also filed in US (and their early European patents may be very persuasive!) I would demand an ISLD company statement on these patents before I started speculating on AOL hooking up with ISLD! I am a shareholder of both AOL and XLA. I wish someone would forward this note to AOL senior management, wherever they can be found!
