EMDG going national with WalMart, orders in hand.

PHOENIX, Ariz.--(BW HealthWire)--Dec. 14, 1999--Empyrean
Bioscience, Inc. (OTCBB:EMDG) today announced the company has
received a national order from Wal-Mart for its new Preventx(R) hand
sanitizer. The order follows a successful market test of Preventx in
19 Wal-Mart stores in Phoenix and Columbus, Ohio, during August and
September.
Beginning in February, Wal-Mart will sell Preventx hand sanitizer
in both the two-ounce bottle and eight-ounce pump sizes in most of its
more than 2,400 stores across the United States. The Wal-Mart order is
the first national retail order Empyrean has received for Preventx,
which has been sold to institutional customers since February.
Preventx, an alcohol-free hand sanitizer, kills 99.9% of
disease-causing germs without chapping or drying hands.
"We are extremely excited to have received this national order
from Wal-Mart," said Richard C. Adamany, executive vice president and
chief operating officer. "The order will not only put our product on
the shelf in more than 2,400 stores across the country, but it also
represents an important vote of confidence from a retailer of the
highest caliber. We believe this is the first big step towards broad
national distribution for Preventx products, which will include
towelettes, baby wipes and a disinfectant surface spray, all projected
for introduction in mid to late 2000."
"During the market test, Preventx successfully competed against
national brands in the $700 million hand and body lotion market by
achieving retail sales that averaged in excess of $110 per store per
week," continued Bennett S. Rubin, executive vice president and chief
marketing officer. "Although these results were influenced by in-store
demonstrations and there is no guarantee that we can achieve the same
results in the future, the data does confirm that consumers recognize
the need for and the benefits of an alcohol-free hand sanitizer. We
will aggressively pursue consumer sales with informative, eye-catching
point-of-purchase displays."
Empyrean Bioscience specializes in the marketing, sale and
distribution of innovative prophylactic personal care products
designed to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. The company
markets its products under the Preventx(R) brand.
