Monsanto Board Made No Final Decisions on Split, Paper Says

Chicago, Dec. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Monsanto Co.'s board of directors failed to reach a final decision on the future of the company in a meeting Friday, the Financial Times reported without citing sources. Though analysts have said the St. Louis-based agricultural and pharmaceutical company should split into two parts, Monsanto executives may still hope to find a buyer for the whole business, the newspaper said. The company may also keep its current structure, the paper said.

Monsanto's Celebrex arthritis drug became one of the fastest- selling drugs in history, garnering revenue of more than $1 billion in its first nine months.
