Fred-- I honestly have no idea. I believe THE FED, the feds, the fedgov...what have you...will do what it takes to ameliorate the situation...remember they have sat phones and are prepared to do "heroic" things. If history is any indicator emergency legislation moves pretty fast when necessary. FDR submitted to Congress an Emergency Banking Bill March 9,1933 authorizing government to strengthen, reorganize, and reopen solvent banks. The House passed the bill by acclamation, sight unseen, after only 38 minutes of debate. That night the Senate passed it unamended, 73 votes to 7.
