I think that the common analyst wisdom is that if you can't get all the components you need to make a computer, then you will only order as many products that you need for the computers that you CAN build. In other words, if you were going to build 100 computers but you could only get 80 of part "A", then you can only build 80 computers, so there is no reason to buy more than 80 of part "B". If there IS a CAPACITY LIMITING shortage of "other" PC components, Intel's customers would cut back or delay orders until they could build and ship finished systems.

Playing Devils advocate, I don't believe this for a second.
