Lucent is one of four companies working with Docomo on 3G - Ericsson, NEC and (i'm drawing a blank but its a japanese company) are the others. LU actually has a huge advantage in W-CDMA as a) the leading CDMA systme company with 60% share and, the only one of these four companies to have ever built a scalable carrier data network. I note that the 3G "contracts" are not yet set in stone, as most carriers are testing multiple vendors and much of the 3G spectrum has not been awarded yet.
