"The API was expected to report that U.S. crude oil
inventories dropped between 1.9 million and 2.7 million barrels from 300.6 million during the week ended Dec. 10, according to the average estimates of the eight analysts.

After the market closed, the API reported a 7.2 million-
barrel decline in U.S. crude oil supplies to 294.4 million
barrels, the lowest level since January 1997."
