For the reasons you stated and more, it would be a real sham(e) if Intel does do this launch.

There are a few people who seemed to have ordered CuMine systems from Dell that still have not recieved it with some deliveries being scheduled for late December and some for January. Christmas is over at this point.

You mean "old AMD"? AMD's 750 was reasonably well launched with systems even from some smaller OEMs at introduction. And, even Sharky's is saying that 800MHz Athlons are all set.

By the way, I doubt Intel is going to lower their standards this much but as I have noted before stranger things have happened so I will wait and watch.
