CrossKeys records major sale to new entrant service provider in US: Integrated Communications Provider in the US deploying CrossKeys software in a $2.4 million US agreement
VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 1999-- CROSSKEYS (NASDAQ:CKEY - news; TSE:CKY. - news) CrossKeys Systems Corporation (NASDAQ:CKEY - news; TSE:CKY - news), today announced a major sale of CrossKeys Resolve(r) software. A leading integrated communications provider in the US is deploying CrossKeys industry leading service level agreement (SLA) capabilities in a deal worth US $2.4 million this fiscal year, with additional revenue confirmed or as part of options over the coming fiscal years.
This is a significant sale for CrossKeys, beyond the size of the deal. The customer is one of the major new entrants in the US market. New entrants, such as competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) and ICPs represent a substantial opportunity for CrossKeys. They are a growing market (over 2,000 in the US alone) and they require the competitive advantage of CrossKeys products to differentiate their offerings from incumbent service providers. The customer selected CrossKeys software because it saw CrossKeys carrier-scale SLA capabilities as the cornerstone of its competitive service offering.
``SLAs equal competitive advantage for service providers,' says Ian McLaren, President and CEO, CrossKeys. ``Service providers are not simply selling bandwidth, they are selling increased revenues to their enterprise customers by guaranteeing the vital applications of eCommerce and VPNs. The Internet is its own economy and quality of service will define success for both the service provider and business customer. We have focused on the US market because it is the leader in this arena. This focus is producing results.'
The US service provider will use CrossKeys Resolve software to see its unified voice and data network through its customers' eyes. This takes network management to a new level. At this level, the smooth operation of data applications-such as on-line trading or virtual storefronts-is the goal, rather than merely managing network faults, outages, and downed paths. CrossKeys is the industry pioneer and leader in developing carrier-scale software that sees the network in these terms. Further, non-network metrics, such as how long it takes for the service provider to meet the demand to expand applications, are monitored as critical elements of an all-encompassing SLA. |
