Nortel Networks Unveils Cable Modem Svc,
Sys

LOS ANGELES -- Nortel Networks Corp. (NT) unveiled its Cable Modem Interoperability Testing program developed by Arris Interactive, its venture with Antec Corp. (ANTC).

CMIT will test cable modems' interoperability with Arris' Cornerstone Cable Modem Termination System 1000.

In a press release, Nortel said it is offering the program to its hybrid-fiber coax customers.

In a separate press release, Nortel said Arris released its Cornerstone Cable Provisioning System 2000, which enables cable modem installation while integrating cable modem and cable television service billing and provisioning.

The company said operators can use CPS 2000 to integrate customer support systems and provisioning and can use DST Innovis' CyberCSR customer care and billing system with CPS 2000 to allow subscribers to self-register for cable modem service over the Internet.

DST Innovis provides customer care and open billing systems to the global communications and utilities industries.
