SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 1999--Frederick D. Pettit, president and chief executive officer of ANTs SOFTWARE.COM (OTCBB:ANTS - news) today announced that the company has appointed Ione Binford as managing director with responsibility for relationships with the world's leading application vendors, interfacing of ANTs software to their applications and building sales alliances with these vendors.

Pettit said, ``Ms. Binford joins us from Hewlett-Packard, where she has most recently been responsible for multi-year, multi-million dollar complex outsourcing projects in ERP, e-commerce, supply chain, client-server and network management. Her previous experience includes responsibility for the worldwide outsourcing business of one of the world's largest automotive manufacturers as well as other world-class clients.'

Binford said, ``I did extensive investigation of ANTs, including the use of expert third-party advice, prior to making my decision to join the company and take on my new and exciting role. I believe ANTs has the potential to make unique and deep impacts upon the information technology industry and I look forward to being at the center of these changes.'

A detailed biography describing the prior professional career and academic credentials of Binford is available on the company's Web site, www.ANTssoftware.com.

The company has taken approximately 14,000 square feet of headquarters space in San Mateo, Calif., at the nexus of road, rail and air connections in the San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley area.

Pettit said, ``The space we have leased could not be better located for our needs. It is in a new building just coming free for fitting out, so we can configure it exactly to our roll-out plans. We expect headquarters staffing to be in the 60 range by year-end 2000 and to exceed 100 in the following one to two years as our commercialization program gathers momentum.'

ANTs has filed three new patent applications with respect to ``Lock-Free Lists, Lock-Free Records Management, and a Method for Adding and Subtracting.' The company believes that these applications will be approved and will add further strength to its intellectual property position with respect to its asynchronous, non-preemptive tasking (``ANTs') technology.

As the result of these new intellectual property activities, the interfacing of ANTs software to the key modules in the premier general ledger application of one of the world's leading software vendors is expected to incur a minor delay from mid-December until January.

ANTs has engaged a well known former member of Stanford University's computer science faculty to supervise all aspects of an independently conducted benchmark test of the respective software, with and without ANTs, following completion of the interface in the new year.

The company's Web site is about to undergo substantial renovation, the first results of which will take effect later this week.

Finally, Pettit noted, ``In light of recent interest in LINUX, it is important to keep in mind that ANTs has not only been designed to be portable to LINUX but also across all other major operating systems and hardware platforms, such as Microsoft Windows NT and Win 95/98, Unix, IBM AIX and OS/400, Sun Solaris, and HP-UX.
