I have never posted that I have an MA in medieval literature.

This is not a new issue for me, therefore, there was no need for me to hare off to the library. Nor did I state that all of the research was flawed; I stated that some of it is. Having seen some that is, I am not willing to accept an abstract as gospel in support of any contention.

The subject of the effects of corporal punishment has been one of intense interest to me for two decades. My ex-husband is a clinical psychologist. Several close friends of today are also clinical psychologists. Because of these friendships, I have had ample opportunity to read a great deal of the research and to talk it over with practicing clinicians.

Yet again, I do not endorse corporal punishment personally. However, I am wary of attempts to bolster personal beliefs with research abstracts without examining the work behind them, since I have found some of it to be poorly conducted. eom.
