Brian:

I want Ligand to succeed. They have chosen a strange route to success, addressing small markets and actually pursuing them after the strategy had already induced bleeding.

I know that the cry is "off label". They need to get a label first. Then they need to find an indication where the off-label use makes sense in light of side effects.

If anyone wants to pursue the earliest "red flag" posts, access (don't know that one can actually do such) the misc.invest.stocks archives and look for a Ligand post on or around 5/8/95. I attended a seminar that day by Heyman and Gill at the San Diego VA.

Good science, great concepts, a CEO that has abused his shareholders. I've been correct about the "dilution" issue for some time, and I see no reason that it will end now. Hope it will, and that the company can catch up with its policy of deficit spending.

Definitely not among biotech's best bargains, but I'm not going to predict a direction near-term. The simple question is, and this has been OBVIOUS for some time..... are the individuals that are looking to off label use justified given the side effects? I won't presume to know the answer, but I will say that the LGND gurus (Murphy, etc.) have obviously been among biotech's worst investors over a prolonged period. They tend to pick companies that lack leverage.

I hope that LGND turns here and begins a steady ascent.
