Redback Networks, Motorola In Cable Modems Pact

LOS ANGELES -- Redback Networks Inc. (RBAK) and Motorola Inc.'s (MOT) Multimedia
Group will provide a provisioning system to reduce the time for cable providers to
activate new subscribers for cable Internet access.

In a press release Wednesday, Redback said its Subscriber Management System and
the Motorola Cable Router interoperate, which allows cable modem subscribers to
self-provision their modems to the network and select the services and bandwidth they
want.

Redback, Sunnyvale, Calif., provides advanced networking systems for carriers, cable
modem operators and service providers to deploy broadband access to the Internet and
corporate networks.

Motorola's Multimedia Group develops and markets systems for the convergence of
voice, data and video communications services over broadband multimedia.
