In the old days, they used a mercury leaching process to dissolve out the gold. Today, this has been replaced by cyanide heap leaching. Although "cyanide" sounds as hideous as "mercury" it really isn't, as cyanide is very rapidly broken down by exposure to sunlight, whereas mercury stays in the foodchain for decades. As to how much gold Canuc has, your guess is as good as mine, however, some of the people at Nesbitt Burns are talking 2.5 to 5 million ounces, potentially. Regards.
