China is very good news! Thanks Brian. It does look like things are starting to warm up. Notice I didn't say heat up. I guess we have to wait for 2000 for things to get hot.

I dropped in to our local Airtouch office a couple of days ago. This is not the retail store but the regional office. I asked if I could get a satellite phone and was told I could but I didn't want the only one that was available right now (Iridium) because the company is bankrupt. She said theirs would be available very soon. She then told me that the company had just recently started educating the regional office staff about G*. They were given an Iridium phone, a G* and a regular Q 820 (regular cell) for comparison. They could tell no diff between the G* call and Q 820 but there was a big diff with the Iridium phone. I guess this demo took place at a recent mtg in Calif. She then asked if I wanted to place an order whereby I told her I already have and that I was only asking to find out how aware their office was of the service. I did tell her I owned the stock. She said she thought it was a good investment. Now there is a vote of confidence! Everyone ought to buy on her recommendation! I asked her if thier office has been getting inquiries and she said definitely and this is only in Boise, Idaho.

Ok, Boise is peanuts and the US isn't even in G*'s top 5 markets. There is demand, even here. When you consider that G* only needs a few hundred thousand customers to break even (or 100k or less who use the hell out of the system) the probability of success to me is a joke. The only thing that will hold this back (and apparently is holding this back) is handset availability, licensing, and lousy marketing. Hopefully these factors are in the process of being resolved and today's news seems to confirm that. I would love to see a formal announcement on the FBI issue. That ought to be good for a couple of points although I am not saying in which direction.
