Why is LSI being hit more severely than the average semi stock? One rationale is fear of inventories piled up at customers. However, Charley Boucher of Bear Stearns addressed this in a report issued yesterday. He believes that any "overbuying" in 2H99, resulting in "underbuying" in 1H00 would occur primarily in the commodity, (logic, discretes, DRAM, SRAM, etc.) space. He thinks that there is less chance of inventories piling up within those circuits that are application specific, communications oriented and wireless, etc.

So, why is LSI disproportionately beaten back? I am tending to see this as a buying opportunity.
