What is a "surge" in loadings? Tankers get loaded, bring it to the U.S. and then go back and do it over again. Is the DLJ spy satelite tracking tankers? Why does this vague report come out after the strongest API I've seen in a loooong time? What purpose does it serve, and why release it now rather than yesterday or last week? Is DLJ somehow short the sector, and are they buying time to unwind positions before oil moves past $27?

I think the timing of such a release is VERY suspect and reflects a lot of that article on market manipulation (ie. where there is vague and negative use of the obvious, "many concepts in the investment world are taken for granted, but these notions are easily manipulated to appear anomalous. ") I suppose that article is more directed at rogue internet rumors than toward established brokerage firms like DLJ, but they certainly do it as well. Cisco has some bad news and tanks in aftermarket trading, but all the big brokerages are fully invested. So what happens? All of a sudden the analysts come out of the woodwork minimizing the report prior to the market opening. Tell me that's not manipulation. If the brokerages were out of the stock, we'd see a piling on with a plethora of downgrades. Manipulation is rampant.
