Sorry I asked, Mitch :)
I just wanted to know if I publish something for free, how could I then collect for it?
If it's possible to send in a bill to a successful software user and get paid for it, let me know. If not, then we could just take up garbage collection or slinging hamburgers for McDonalds and let the gov't write software. At least they have an economic model and we can be sure they will get paid. They seem to worry about it but nobody else does.
If you advocate mud flaps for cars and trucks and it impoverishes window glass repairmen, it would not exactly break my heart. But, if I sell them some software, then the least you could do is go around pitching stones at windshields, so they could afford my business. It's only fair. Of course, you might aver that the software should be free, but let's face it, they could not afford me to fix free software (as it inevitably needs it), if you don't pitch some stones at some windshields.
Let me tell you what I have spent on free software.
1 modem 150 dollars 2 modems 100 dollars 1 ethernet card 65 dollars
All the above for loading down free software.
