RIGHT START CATALOG SALES DOWN 45%
Westlake Village, CA--Despite a 43% increase in total sales,
The Right Start?s catalog continues to struggle. For the 13
weeks ended Oct. 30, catalog sales dropped a whopping 45% to
$492,000 from $897,000 the same period last year. For the
first nine months, the children?s products marketer?s
catalog sales decreased 14% to $3.1 million, compared to
$3.6 million the year before.

Third-quarter retail sales for The Right Start, however,
jumped 23% to $8.8 million from $7.2 million last year.
Year-to-date retail sales increased 23% to $27 million,
compared to $22 million the same period last year.

For the third quarter, The Right Start reported a
consolidated loss of $3.6 million, compared to a loss of
$276,000 for the same period last year. For the first nine
months, the company reported a consolidated loss of $3.3
million, compared to a loss of $1.5 million the year before.

Meanwhile, the company?s Internet division, Rightstart.com,
reported its first full quarter of operation with sales of
$2.2 million.
