Santiago, Sure glad to talk to anyone! In fact right now I'm reading an interesting article entitled "Human Nature and Sin" which compares, contrasts Christian and Islamic views of these items....
Worldwide Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world right now. Christianity is the second fastest growing religion just slightly behind Islam's percentage growth rate. Islamic growth comes primarily from higher birth rates in Islamic-dominated countries.
Christian growth in numbers comes more from conversions from other religions such as Islam since most Christian dominated countries have lower birth rates.
Growth areas for Islam are for e.g., Dagestan, central Asia and some in the western Pacific from Asian immigrants into that area. Growth areas for Christianity are China and central, southern Africa, and also Christianity is beginning to accelerate in SE Asia.
Expect growth rates to stabilize moving forward as the Christian approach stays the same while birth rates drop in major Islamic-dominated countries such as Indonesia, Egypt, and Turkey due to introduction of family planning and birth control since population levels are stressing available resources there.
There are a whole bunch of factors which could/will tilt this equation over the next twenty years such as the emanicipation of women in third world countries, the Internet, rising education levels of women worldwide, etc., the current free market reforms, etc.....We can discuss these items too and their impact..... |
