TORONTO -(Dow Jones)- ATI Technologies Inc. (ATYT) graphics chips are being used in Sony Corp. (SNE) television set-top boxes on display at a Los Angeles Western Cable Show, said Credit Suisse First Boston analyst Ray Sharma.

"It's an ATI chip in the (Sony) exhibit," Sharma said in Toronto, explaining that a member of the CSFB research team confirmed the information.

Sharma believes ATI will ship $75 million of graphics chips to Sony over the next three years. He believes ATI will be filling Sony's contract to sell three million set-top boxes to Cablevision Systems Corp. (CVC) as announced in September. Sony hasn't announced it is using ATI chips, though many market players believe Sony and ATI have had an agreement since at least September.
