BP and Cha2, here's my cut at it:

Microsoft is undeniably the Gorilla of operating systems. Some are claiming WIND to be a Gorilla (imbedded operating systems), others claim the Palm Pilot division of COMMS is a Gorilla (palm computing operating systems), and others feel that linux will displace Windows. But as a student of the GG, I see these as OS niches, and believe that it is just a matter of time until the Gorilla takes the bananna from the impudent Chimps. Msft has a jv with qcom, partial ownership of T, and a strategic relationship with Ericsson. These are Gorilla maneuvers designed to extend their powers to rapidly growing niches that utilize operating systems. I think the only thing that can hold back msft is the doj, and even they can't do it for long.
