Tom: Fair enough. I was wrong. MSFT may buy its way in, but right now its advantage - if it has one - is money. Doubt that MSFT can successfully throw its weight around in this space. That would be counterproductive IMO.

But yes, I agree the landscape is littered with people who underestimated MSFT. And I may be making that mistake here.

Just think this is where the traditional MSFT approach will backfire not win alliances.

The Ericsson deal shows some companies will deal.

But even Ericsson kept its options open - especailly by refusing to agree to use Win CE and keep its line to Symbian.

Glad we have areas of agreement.
