I always believed that Christian missions were the only groups that actually had any type of outreach into foreign countries. I know I always had a deep respect for them to go into areas where there is disease, dirty water, unsanitary living conditions.
The worst I ever wanted to experience was boot camp and long hours on duty during the Cuban missile crises.
I suspect that the Sudan is not exactly a developed nation where you can feel safe without an M-16 and a Beretta on your hip, like many other dangerous areas. In Africa. I remember the Tuitsi and the Mau-Mau being especially dangerous to foreigners, white farmers and each other. But these brave people have nothing but God's protective mantle about them for protection.
Maybe its just how I see them, but whenever I hear Arab or Islamic I always think of a scowling, little brown skinned guy with a dishrag around his head and a huge gun and knife chanting death to Yankees or white satan. Most of them are probably just like us, I really liked King Hussein. I always thought that he was Americanized or, just an especially good person.
Any way, if you are going to be effective, I am sure that you have to look past the differences and try to find the man behind the anger and shouting invectives.
Sea Otter seems like he has an even temperament but he is badly misguided. Hope he learns about Christ, our risen Savior during his visit here on the thread.
