After hours trading has been very poor from my experience. On many occassions, I would enter my buy / sell inside the current bid / ask. It never shows up in the after hours quote. I have called E*Trade on this several times, they say "let me call the trading desk" and when they come back on the phone, they say "that's funny, I don't know why it isn't showing."

When I finally did get someone on the line that could help me, he said the whole Instinet procedure is manual at E*Trade right now. There isn't a connection from E*Trade to the Instinet servers. Therefore, when we enter an order on E*Trade, a clerk at E*Trade has to go over to an instinet terminal and enter our order. If the clerk never picks up our order, or enters something wrong, it is never posted to Instinet. I am very unhappy with this whole process. I too wish they would go with Island. I may even move some funds over to Datek just so I can trade on the Island system instead of dealing with E*Trade...
