Microsoft is undeniably the Gorilla of operating systems. This is a pretty sweeping statement and, while it might seem correct in everyday experience, I think that one has to be careful about thinking that "operating system" is one category. MS share of the mainframe OS market, for example, is 0%. And its share of the server OS market, while large, is not nearly the percentage it has on the desktop.
