>My conclusion: yes, Amazon has more revenue per employee,
but not much. Profit per employee though - well, it's a
point to ponder.

The endless dance of AMZN bulls and bears continues...

This post (nor any others) will settle the question <g>, but I remember Lizzie being amazed that Walmart could not deliver in time for Xmas. This points to how difficult it is for established players to transition to the new era. My personal experience is far afield, in the health care industry, where I deal with a Fortune 500 company that is in the business of health care delivery. I never ceased to be amazed by the inability of this behemoth to take advantage of IT tools, let alone leverage its assests to become a greater force in health care. Totally clueless when it comes to IT implementation and how to transition to the web. I have talked to the CIO, and he is just overwhelmed with Y2K (still!) and is just a cog in the machine.

AMZN is a poster-child for the new economy....

Traders will make lots of money with inevitable fluctuations of AMZN, but long-term trend is up....
