I have a small investment in a community bank. I wrote them recently suggesting they consider providing on-line banking and bill payment before they loose all their customers to the big banks and the likes of Yahoo, AOL etc.

I was surprised to get a response from them today saying they were indeed doing that after the first of the year. This is a small community bank. My guess is that many other small banks will be doing the same if for no other reasons than to hold on to their current customers.

CKFR is a winner and it will soar after the first of the year, possibly before.

If interest rates don't climb too much higher, small banks should do well in 2000 due to innovation and consolidation. The are pretty depressed right now.
