Goutama, re:MOT/AMD/Fab 25/Dresden
First of all, Fab 30 is, at most 16% used right now. Giving up a third of it for the cash needed to fill the other two-thirds with equipment would be a good tradeoff.

I think the fact that Fab 25 will soon be used for chipsets and flash is an indication that the Dresden Cu process is going so well that AMD feels they don't have to make Athlons in Fab 25 anymore. Fab 25 will just be used for 0.18 K6x's, flash memory and chipsets. The equipment in there now which is incapable of 0.18u process will be used for 0.25u chipsets and flash. The 0.18 line will be converted to K6x's once Dresden is online.

Eventually, 2/3 of Dresden will not be enough capacity for all the Athlons AMD can sell. I suspect Motorola will become a second source for the Athlon.
