Corel Adds Executive Leadership in Sales and Marketing

OTTAWA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 10, 1999--Corel Corporation (Nasdaq:CORL - news; TSE:COR - news) President
and chief executive officer Dr. Michael Cowpland is pleased to announce the following appointments to the Company's Executive
Leadership Team (ELT), effective today.

Steven J. Houck, has been named executive vice president of sales. Mr. Houck, 30, has been with Corel for the past four years, most recently as a Tier One
Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) account manager. Mr. Houck has been responsible for managing Corel's relationships with hardware manufacturers
Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, Compaq and Fountain Technologies, as well as expanding OEM sales programs throughout the United States and Latin America.

''This is a great opportunity to lead Corel's worldwide sales force and build on our recent successes with Linux as well as continuing the growth of our core
WordPerfect and CorelDRAW brands,'' said Mr. Houck. ''The next year presents tremendous new opportunities for Corel in building relationships with key players
in new channels based on the Web, and Applications Service Providers (ASPs) as well as expanding traditional distribution and sales channels.''

Ross Cammalleri, currently Corel's vice president, marketing communications, becomes executive vice president of marketing. Mr. Cammalleri, 40, joined Corel
earlier this year and was responsible for leading the creative efforts around the highly successful Corel LINUX OS launch. Mr. Cammalleri came to Corel from
Cossette Communications, where he was responsible for managing a large staff and was lead account manager for BCE, arranging for the provision of a wide range
of services including direct marketing, advertising and more. Cammalleri previously held senior positions with Academie Ogilvy and Ogilvy Mather.
