GLENAYRE, ONEPOINT SIGN MULTIMILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT FOR ENHANCED SERVICES PLATFORM

CHARLOTTE, N.C., Dec 15, 1999 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Glenayre Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GEMS) today announced that it has received a multimillion dollar, two-year agreement to provide the Glenayre enhanced services solution to OnePoint Communications, the leading provider of communications services to residents of U.S. apartment communities.
OnePoint, which offers local and long-distance telephone service, cable television and high-speed Internet access, will work with Glenayre to deploy a voice and data network tailored for customers living in multi-dwelling units. OnePoint will offer the service in Phoenix starting in January 2000, with plans to roll out services in Atlanta, Denver, Washington, Baltimore and Chicago during 2000.
OnePoint will use Glenayre's MVP(TM) modular voice processing system to complement its service offering and deliver integrated advanced messaging services to customers. Glenayre's MVP platform will enable OnePoint to choose enhanced services that meet customers' needs, including voice and fax messaging, personal number service, outdialing and other convenient features such as the ability to return calls with a simple key stroke.
Additionally, OnePoint will use Glenayre's System Management Unit (SMU) for delivery and administration of enhanced messaging services throughout OnePoint's markets. Glenayre's SMU is a turnkey solution that allows for the centralized maintenance and administration of the Intelligis family of products.
