Eicon's ISDN Server Hardware to Support Linux-Linux
Servers can now use Eicon Hardware for Connectivity

DECEMBER 16, 1999
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Eicon Technology, a leading worldwide provider
of remote access products, today announced the release of Linux
drivers for its PCI bus ISDN server adapters, the DIVA Server
BRI-2M and the DIVA Server PRI-23M. The new drivers will work
with Caldera's OpenLinux 2.3, Red Hat Linux 6.0, and SuSE Linux 6.2.
Linux is estimated to have between 7.5 and 10.5 million users and
to have increased its market share by over 200 percent last year.
Industry analysts predict that Linux shipments will continue to
increase at a compound annual growth rate of 25 percent for the
next four years, easily outpacing all other operating systems.
"As more and more corporations are adopting Linux-based servers
for their Internet connectivity and remote access needs, it was
logical for us to develop the software necessary for our DIVA RAS
server adapters to support this popular operating system," said
Ken Gingrich, Eicon's Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales &
Marketing Operations. "In order to satisfy the market demand for
Linux, we have developed drivers which support the leading
commercially available versions of this open-source OS. We will
also be considering requests to provide support for other
commercial versions of the platform."
The release of DIVA Server for Linux follows the recent Euro-ISDN
certification from BABT for the DIVA 2.01 client hardware with the
HiSax stack which is part of isdn4linux.
DIVA Server for Linux provides remote users with an extremely
flexible solution for remote connectivity to their Linux server.
Using the TTY interface, remote users can connect using digital or
V.90 analog devices as well as fax machines, with only one
telephone number. Full support for CAPI-enabled fax server
applications enables simultaneous fax transmission on multiple B-channels.
In January, DIVA Server for Linux will be available for download
from eicon.com. In addition, the drivers will be made
available on future releases of the DIVA Server Software Suite CD.
