Thank you for your reply. I don't claim to be an expert in the area of VoIP but I find it extremely interesting. In the spirit of everything over IP and over broadband, it should play a central roll. Conceptually I like the idea of VoIP as both potentially "disruptive" of traditional voice services and as an enabling technology that could make a positive contribution to a next generation of internet sites. From what I have read, the technology is getting better but QoS is still quite limited. Given Level 3's announcement it would seem that QoS man be improving. I need to explore this in more detail to get a sense for just how far LVLT's service maintains an acceptable QoS while still truly in a VoIP format and when it is necessary to pass to the more traditional voice switching networks. Beyond the postes on the VoIP thread which I will review, could you recommend any good pieces describing the routing/caching and other logistic technologies being used to manage the VoIP "cloud" and the requisite bridges to more traditional voice switching networks. I still need to do my homework in these areas before I can make a positive contribution to a lengthy discussion on the merits of various technologies.

Regards,
SteveL
