Quick, dirty, convenient swap file fix ...
Click into MS-DOS mode, and erase WIN386.SWP file. When Windows restarts, a new file is created. Be sure you do this in MS-DOS mode instead of an MS-DOS window.
Cheers, PW.
P.S. Norton's optimizing sets the swap file to a minimum size. With dynamic sizing, the file can get badly fragmented as other data is written to vacant disk space while the swap file is small: A large minimum prevents this.
On my system, Norton optimizing runs Norton defrag too, if needed.
P.P.S. In Norton SpeedDisk, I check the 'Clear Unused Disk Space' box. The reasoning behind this is that if Norton hits a bad spot on the disk, it'll let me know, and this option forces Norton to write to my entire surface.
P.P.P.S. How are your socks arranged? I have light on the left and dark on the right, those needing mending on top, and the ones I can't stand hubby wearing are hidden on the bottom. |
