Patrice, I would take this to e-mail, since this is really not germain to investment commentary, but you have no listing under your profile. I'm not familiar with the Newscutter, so you'll have to contact an Avid reseller for more answers. MCXpress was designed as a Media Composer "Lite", so its interface is very familiar to those of us who are comfortable editing on the Media Composer platform.
Since MDEA is AVID's chief competitor, they do not support each other. However, MDEA uses QuickTime native video files, which are easily used by many other software titles for effects, animation, painting, etc. Yes, Avid can also export to QuickTime, but in my experience, the time to translate the files and the resultant quality was not inspiring. FYI, QuickTime 3.0, coming out in a month or two, will support Avid's proprietary MJPEG files, as well as Avid's OMF universal exchange file format, so perhaps my criticisms will be silenced.
