Weekly Jobless Claims = -29k to 266k

In the week ending Dec. 11, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 266,000, a decrease of 29,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 295,000. The 4-week moving average was 282,000, a decrease of 5,250 from the previous week's revised average of 287,250.

International Trade for Oct. = -$25.9B

The Nation's international deficit in goods and services increased to $25.9 billion in October, from $24.2 billion (revised) in September, as exports decreased and imports increased.

Although most survey indicators continued to record positive readings this month, survey responses suggest slower growth than reported in recent months. Although a larger percentage of firms reported increases in activity (30 percent) than reported decreases (21 percent), the general activity index fell from 15.8 in November to 8.6 this month. The decline in the general activity index was accompanied by declines in the indexes for shipments and new orders. The current new orders index fell markedly, from 20.3 in November to 8.9. The current shipments index fell from 27.6 to 6.0.
