Mohan,

As the proud owner of a new cable modem, I noticed this article you had posted on SoftNet and began wondering about the current state of broadband to the home initiatives in India. I am trying to determine:

(1) How many Indian homes have cable TV connections?
(2) What is the largest Cable company in India in terms of number of subscribers?
(3) How many Indian homes have dial-up internet access?
(4) Who is the largest ISP?
(5) To what extent has government regulation affected the market?
(6) If private sector telecom development is not being totally stymied by the government, what is the new generation of computer millionaires (what is the word for this in Hindi?) such as Infosys' Murthy doing to spur development of telecom infrastructure?

I don't expect you to necessarily have all the answers, Mohan, but perhaps you could help point me in the right direction.
