News from Europe!

Elsacom has put up new links to service providers in Austria and Switzerland.

elsacom.com

The Austrian SP, Max Mobile has several pages devoted to Globalstar:

maxmobil.at

It's in German of course, but with help of AltaVista, I am able to report that SERVICE IS AVAILABLE NOW through Max Mobile in 16 European countries: Albania, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Austria, Rumania, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Hungary.

The Telit phone is available immediately and is priced. The Ericson phone is said to be available in Feb2000 and is not priced.

Airtime prices for sat-mode service is given; when in terrestrial GSM mode, the cost is the standard tariff.

MaxMobile, which also offers Iridium, says G* is 35% cheaper. Says that 100 countries will be in service by y/e 2000.

The Swiss SPs, Diax and Swisscom, have no G* info up as yet.
