I don't question your knowledge of the physicochemical attributes of Pd versus Pt, but they are different. Wasn't this Pt for Pd or some other substitution attempted back when Pd price went above $200 an ounce? I vaguely recollect that there were target, efficiency, synergy or some other problems such that even at higher prices, Pd was still economical in autocatalyst use.

It's interesting that you consider the possibility of Pd price exceeding that of Pt over a sufficient period of time to make such a commercial retooling effort economical. Or is the substitution just a matter of a different proportion/combination of metals in a wafer or wafers in the converter?
