Z.O: The market places its own value on technology. Last week NN announced the shipment of a state of art ATM switch and got a small pop. Today NT bought QTERA a 100m IPO (1998) at $3.5b based on its ability to provide long reach photonic transport using Optical pumps and Optical switching using semi micron size embedded mirrors which can be tilted at high frequency. Strangely NT too was up after the announcement. The message I get is that the market is presently willing to pay a lot more for Optics than for Silicon.
