Informix pre-sold product to their distributor's. SAP is a sells a software application that can run using Informix or Oracle. The question is this, will SAP be using product that was pre-sold to them in a prior quarter? If that is the case, then Informix revenue from this deal could be zero. To my knowledge, information regarding who Informix pre-sold to, is not known.

IF SAP didn't already have licenses that were already paid for then this could be good news, in that not all customers are running scared. But bare in mind when a company buys a packaged application they don't necessarily care what database its running on. They are mainly interested in what business function it performs and the resulting cost savings.
