Webb Provides First Instant Messaging Service Based On Jabber.org's Open-Source Movement
DENVER, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Webb Interactive Services, Inc. (Nasdaq: WEBB), a leading provider of infrastructure services for local commerce, today announced JabberIM, its first instant messaging service built in partnership with the Jabber.org XML-based, open-source movement. JabberIM is included in Corel Corporation's (Nasdaq: CORL) recently announced application platform, CorelCity.com; in addition to being embedded within Corel's new Linux Desktop OS. JabberIM provides CorelCity.com users with an all web based means of creating buddy lists and sending instant messages. Webb has integrated and hosts JabberIM services on Corel's behalf for the CorelCity.com platform. No terms or financial information on the partnership is being released. In November, Corel announced bundling of its new Linux Operating System, Corel(R) LINUX(R) OS, with every computer motherboard shipped worldwide by the PC Chips group of companies. PC Chips estimates shipments of more than 20 million motherboards in 2000. Corel LINUX OS and PC Chips customers will be able to access JabberIM through the desktop menu or a CorelCity.com icon. |
