Andrew H,
Your opinion of John Galt, no doubt put forth to instigate a wrathful response from said same, is of no consequence to me. However, to dismiss Ayn Rand as a "second rate intellect" whose "mistaken ravings" are set forth in a "bad psuedo-philosophical novel" is ludicrous, to say the least. If these assertions were true, then she, and her ideas, would be buried and forgotten in the sands of time, rather than still being vigorously studied and debated today.
I worship no god or person, Ayn Rand included, but I feel an immense appreciation for what she accomplished during her lifetime. I believe that the ongoing global migration to capitalism and freedom is due, in no small part, to the ideas presented in her novels. Relevant to this forum, Silicon Investor, is the breathtaking high tech explosion unfolding right before our eyes. It is the closest thing to unbridled lassaiz-faire capitalism that exists today.
Despise Ayn Rand and her philosophy if you so desire. Many do. She expected no less from most of the world. But the fact that she possessed a brilliant intellect is beyond debate. |
