RE>>I see no reason to argue the points of the anger of Jesus<<
I do... I think there is a big difference between Jesus Losing it ( anger ) and be in a state of premeditated Righteous Indignation and Wrath
The first view is one that seems to intimate that Jesus had a 'weak' moment where he ( because of His Zeal ) gave into His flesh and fell ( just a tad ) into a less desirable state
The difference may seem 'subtle' to you but then so is Satan 'subtle' and to say that Jesus in any way failed to act as a Perfect Example of a Godly Man is to accuse Jesus of both failure and sin. For we are called to be PERFECT as our Father in heaven is Perfect concerning how we treat our enemies:
Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Same thought a few verse later:
Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Jesus did treat His enemies with Lawful Love ( not affection of heart ) He Blessed them with the truth about what their behaviour deserved and called them to repent and did not merely curse or call them names but informed them of what Godly Laws and Principles they were defiling.
We are also to be angry with a Righteous Indignation but also called to "sin not" ( love )
Ephesians 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Those who let the sun go down on their Wrath do not trust God to punish the wicked for their sins and impenitence.
Romans 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Here is one of my favorites:
2 Thessalonians 1:6 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
Psalms 59:8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.
God will punish all those who are my enemies ( because of no fault of my own but ) for their own wickedness. Except they repent and are saved He will also punish them in hell forever. I need not brew or stew over the wicked deeds done against me because of my love for Christ Jesus.
Jesus proves to us that indeed God will avenge the righteous and punish the wicked even by Jesus whipping those who distorted God's truth for their own gain.
Got to go ... Later. |
