t-bills will do you fine if sfety is your primary concern...

as for how precious metals funds will fair if the eocnomy goes south... it depends... assuming that the stock mkt bubble bursts, then the dollar will be destroyed which is bullish for gold and silver... the ensuing inflationary depression in the US would further drop the value of the dollar over time which is bullish for gold and silver... so i'd say they'll do well the way th9ings are setting up now.... stick to the bluechips... ASA, AU, GOLD
