Could it be possible your Jaz drive is faulty?

hmmm..it does work on its own and it functioned quite recently daisy chained with a tape machine on the Mac so i don't know really.

A quantum tech told me the maximum lenght for a scsi chain is 59''. Although, I think it was QwikSand here who said I'd be fine at 10'. My shortest test configuration where the Jaz failed with one other 50 pin device was a wee bit over 59''. So lenght is certainly a possible area I am looking to improve on.

did you try putting all of your SCSI devices on your 68 pin bus?

The CD and HDD worked ok that way. I could use the one 50 >68 adapter I have to test the Jaz and the HDD together that way. But I have not gone to that extremme at this point. I'll think about that one a bit.
