To all:

I believe someone at Reuters is a short seller in either COMS or USRX or both. I've been looking for this story for the last hour. This shows that the hub in the recent release is not new. It was a price reduction by INTC to macth the $99.00 per port price that COMS already had. INTC has had switches and hubs. COMS has had a port price of $99.00 for more than a month unde4rcutting INTC's price. Read this article.

New Intel Switch Delivers Cost-Effective Migration Path to Fast
Ethernet; Express 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch Boosts Business
Productivity with Flexible High-Bandwidth Solution

HILLSBORO, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 13, 1997--Intel Corporation today
made Fast Ethernet switching more cost-effective and easier for
businesses to deploy with its new Express 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch.
The switch's innovative 10 or 100-megabit-per-second (Mbps) autosensing
operation allows businesses to flexibly achieve higher productivity on
their growing networks. In addition, the low price ($4,995 U.S.
suggested list) for these advanced capabilities further clears the path
for companies migrating to Fast Ethernet.
Intel's entire family of Fast Ethernet products lower the total
computing costs of migrating business networks to 100Mbps technology
while removing bandwidth bottlenecks. From print servers and LAN
adapters to hubs and switches, the Intel networking solutions allow
companies to realize the strategic benefits of connected
high-performance PCs based on Pentium and Pentium Pro processors.

"In 1994, Intel was a pioneer in Fast Ethernet technology with its
breakthrough 10/100Mbps adapter; in 1997 Intel is helping IT managers
confidently deploy high-bandwidth networking solutions with a
comprehensive and cost-effective Fast Ethernet product line," said Mark
Christensen, vice president of Intel's Internet and Communications Group
and general manager of Intel's Network Products Division. "The Express
10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch leads the way by offering a clear and simple
path from regular Ethernet to Fast Ethernet switching as bandwidth needs
take off."

A Safe, Easy Migration Path

With the Express 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch, Intel offers customers a
long-term switching solution. The switch's 10/100Mbps autosensing
capability allows each port to automatically operate at either 10 or
100Mbps speeds. As a result, customers can greatly extend the life of
their switch investment because the upgrade path to Fast Ethernet is
built in. IT managers can implement the 10/100 switching solution at
10Mbps and immediately experience better response times not available in
shared 10Mbps environments. Then as networks grow and applications
demand more network capacity, IT managers can quickly and
cost-effectively move to 100Mbps switching across multiple LAN segments.
For mixed environments, the switch's flexible 10 or 100Mbps autosensing
allows IT to migrate segments to Fast Ethernet while maintaining
connections with their 10Mbps LANs.

In addition, the Express 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch fits into an IT
manager's switching strategy by combining a low-risk, low entry cost
with the ability to upgrade the switch's capacity as the network grows.
The switch contains eight 10/100Mbps ports and is priced at $4,995 (U.S.
suggested list). As switching needs increase, customers can use the
product's two expansion slots to install an additional four ports. These
optional four ports can be a combination of 10/100BASE-TX and
100BASE-FX.

Built-in Management Reduces Network Costs

The Express 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch furthers the work of Intel's
Wired for Management initiative to deliver business computing solutions
that cut ongoing support costs and increase a company's productivity.
The Intel switch is a manageable device that offers easy, built-in
configuration and monitoring capabilities that maximize network uptime
and productivity. Key management features include: RMON support that
allows LAN administrators to receive and track alarms, statistics,
historical data and event information; per-port VLAN (virtual LAN)
capabilities that enable IT managers to logically and effectively
segment their networks; and built-in management hardware that allows
software management tools like Intel's LANDesk Network Manager, as well
as any standards-based SNMP management console, to control and manage
the switch.

Pricing and Availability

Available immediately, the Express 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch is priced
at $4,995 (U.S.) suggested list. The two-port 10/100BASE-TX switch
expansion module is priced at $1,995, and the two-port 100BASE-FX switch
expansion module at is priced at $2,495 (available at the end of
January). LANDesk Network Manager is also available for $995.
