It is hard for me to imagine a child dropping toys out of a window on pedestrians for more than one or two seconds before ANY sensible parent removed the child firmly from the opportunity to do so and locked the window for good. You really should try taxing your imagination, Christine. Some parents do not have the luxury of hovering over their children every second--possibly to the eventual health of their children. If you cannot push your imagination sufficiently, I suggest reading Susan Fromberg Schaeffer's Love, which speaks about the world before the Chardonnay generation.
